The Lovely Land of Bicycles

It was love at first sight. Against all prior expectations, I fell head over heels for Zeeland. Granted, we've been here for less than 48 hours, and the weather has been less than ideal, but there's something about Vlissingen and its surrounding towns that just get to you.

Although it's just a couple hours from Germany, where most people are guarded with strangers, Zeelanders smile at - and even talk to - one another on the street. I immediately felt welcome. But then I saw the narrow cobblestone streets lined with beautiful, historic, old row houses; the various pedestrian zones, lined with dozens and dozens of shops and cafes; and the bike paths, leading through, and onto, various surrounding towns.

Of course, since this is The Netherlands, bicycles are one of the primary forms of transportation. Which reminds me, that's precisely what I planned on doing with Lukas today! So without further ado, we're off to explore!
