Divinely Dismal Day

The weather is divinely dismal today... the kind of weather that keeps even the most ambitious weekend explorers in, and I'm loving every minute of it!

Leaning back against my quilted Pottery Barn Christmas pillow on the soft grey chair in our toasty living room, I peer out of the large single-pane farmhouse window, watching (and listening to) the rain and the wind as they whip through the apple orchard.

And in a few minutes, we'll get the fire going and make some hot cocoa. Life is good.

It was a fairly unproductive weekend. All we managed to accomplish is a 3km family walk to the nearby castle-ridden town of Baarland, a little family photo shoot for our Christmas cards, and some grocery shopping, with the remainder of our time being spent in our sweats and flannels (in other words, our pajamas). But I can't say I have the slightest inkling of guilt. As much as I would have liked to have attended the Zeeuwse Winter Fair on the neighboring island of Nord-Beveland, there's always next year.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to do some more of, well, absolutely nothing.
