Today, I was going to write about how ordinary Lukas' 2nd birthday was, and how disappointed I was in my organization of everything. Afterall, there were no pony rides, no jumping castles, no clowns, etc.
But I still felt the need to dwell on my slack organization of the party, and while doing so, I visited my Aunt Beth's blog. At her suggestion, I watched the inspirational "A Dying Professor's Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch (a professor battling pancreatic cancer - click here to visit his blog). Suddenly, I was struck by how trivial I had been moments earlier. People are battling cancer, hunger, poverty, and worse, and I'm worried that my child's 2nd birthday wasn't exciting enough? Thank God for wake up calls. In fact, why spend another second wholed up in my bedroom, typing away on the keyboard, on this sunny Zeeland day? Life is short, and there's much that I hope to accomplish. So if you'll excuse me, I'm off to enjoy my family and explore my surroundings. I'll write more when I have something worthy of posting (i.e. not the trivial stuff).

Thank you so much for sharing that. You put persepctive - which is so easily lost in the day-to-day grind - back in my life for today! But, you always seem to do that...
