Have Belly, Will Bike - Bicycling my Bump Away in the Zeeuwse Countryside

Yesterday was my "due" date, and so, today, I did what every anxious mother-to-be does in The Netherlands - I went on a 16 kilometer (10 mile) bike ride with my husband and toddler.

Now, I think it's worth mentioning that while we were out riding, Tobi got a phone call from a friend of ours - a friend whose pregnant wife is avoiding cycling like the plague. When he told his friend what we were up to, the response was, "Yes, well you're obviously towing Lukas behind you, right?" To which Tobi answered, "No, I have the dog!" :-)

We rode to the town of Hoedekenskerke, spending some time at the harbor and train station area, and filling up with cake and refreshments before heading home.

Riding bikes out here is incredible... and even during "high season", there are barely any cars, lots of farmland, and plenty of quaint little towns to enjoy.

But of course, as our luck would have it, the wind was against us for the majority of the ride back. Needless to say, my legs were on fire from the time we set off. I guess it's just a matter of hours now!

Will this have been our last big adventure "zur Dritt" as they say in German? Only time will tell... stay tuned to find out!
