While I love traveling - and long for it when I'm not - there are always things that I miss out on. It's the normal, every-day things, which I'm reminded of when I look at my friend Angie's beautifully decorated Christmas tree, or hear of the once-a-year Christmas breakfast at Lukas' school for mothers and toddlers. It's the Christmas markets and Kerstshows, and time spent with friends, sipping on red wine beside the flickering fireplace. Mostly, I'm reminded that this is our last Christmas here in The Netherlands, and we won't even be here to celebrate it.
But I'm also so thankful for the opportunity to spend this holiday with family in the U.S. And, as for the "normal life", I guess there's always next year.
