Walk in My Shoes Wednesday -- Seeking Refuge (Indoors) in Lauf an der Pegnitz

With my sister visiting, I try to get out exploring every other day or so. So far we've visited the famous Nuremberg Christmas market, the pretty old village of Ochsenfurt (near Würzburg), and - yesterday - Lauf an der Pegnitz. Lauf is a beautiful and well preserved city with surprisingly few tourists, and best of all, it's only minutes from our house!

Unfortunately for us, it was one of the coldest days we've had thus far, but the various bakeries and shops provided us with respite from the cold. Our two major stops were at the Markt Café (where we indulged in delicious cappucinos and cake - while my sister sampled a local chocolate stout) and Tchibo. After wandering down the cobblestone main streets we took an alternate route back to the car, passing a small field, frosty river, and colony of ducks before ducking into the car and turning the heat on full blast.

We may have been cold, but it was still a pleasant outing, and the kids were really good sports for most of the afternoon. Lucky us, or perhaps it was Lauf that was lucky. :)
