Our life here on the farm seems to center around the kitchen, which, quite honestly, takes some getting used to (even if you're not always the one doing the cooking). It seems as though there's always a mess to clean up, and yet, in the short time that we've been here, we've already created such wonderful memories there. We've had family and friends here, some new, some old, and with them, we've shared traditional meals, as well as more experimental meals, plenty of wine, and, of course, good company and conversations. The kitchen (which also serves as the dining room) is just so inviting, and it really seems to have a special energy (as much as I hate to use that expression).
Last night Floor, a friend from my time as an intern in Germany, joined us with her boyfriend, Johann, and we did our very best to catch up on what each other had been up to in the pat 5 years (since falling out of contact). Floor is at a Dutch Advertising Agency now, doing what I always dreamed of... working as an account manager. Isn't life funny sometimes? :-)
Today we're heading back to Antwerp, this time to watch Belgians celebrate St. Martin's Day, which apparently involves children parading through the streets with lanterns once the sun has set. I love finding out about traditions like that. Hopefully I'll have some photos to share with you tomorrow!
