After two days of sunshine, one day of rain, and another incredible sun-filled day, I'm pretty impressed with the Franconian Spring.
Yesterday I read, walked around the surrounding countryside with the dog and the baby, prepared some photos for the blog, did some laundry, and ate dinner with Tobi (and his parents) at his parents' place.
From the day's activities, what really stands out in my head is our morning hike. Lukas, Felix, and I could barely contain ourselves as we set off to explore. Entire fields of wildflowers stretched their necks to the sun, church steeples poked up from behind every hill, the lake (known in German as a "Baggersee") reflected a mid-day luminesence, and the pleasant breeze prevented us from overheating throughout our little expedition.
A few minutes into our walk, I asked Lukas which wildflowers he liked best - the white ones or the yellow ones. After a little consideration, he answered, "The white ones", so I picked him one. He immediately smiled from ear to ear and said, "Oh, thank you, Mama!" as I handed it to him. It was the sweetest moment, and I tried my best to capture it with a photo.
The dog actually led us along the path to the water, and once we arrived, he went absolutely crazy, as usual. After sitting by the water and watching the dog go mad for a few minutes, we headed back up the path to the stroller. I let Lukas walk for a few minutes, and he did a good job of sticking to the track (which is positive, considering there was a bit of a drop immediately to our right). Then we made our way home for lunch and a nap. What a life.
