The peak tourist season is approaching here in Zeeland, which means there's no shortage of festivals and events on the horizon in the land of the Zeeuws. Live here or just planning a visit? Here are a few that I've come across, and I'll add more as they come along:

World of Silk
April 4 - June 1
Exhibit of pottery, paintings, and sculptures from various artists. Location: Galerie World of Silk in Meliskerke.
Theo Voorzaat - Drawings, Paintings, Lithos

A photography exhibit by Ben Seelt, featuring 20 large-format photos depicting how people make their homes in various parts of the world. At "Zeeuwland" in Zierikzee
The Factory Years
April 5 - June 26
A "Pop Art" exhibit including pieces from artists such as Warhol, Haring, Lichtenstein, Copley, Ramos, Raischenberg and Wesselman (from the 70s). Another segment of the exhibit showcases the French New Realism movement. Le Coin Couleurs in IJzendijke

Vlissingen, A City of Tales
("Vlissingen, een stad van verhalen")
Every Sunday from April 26 - November 1, 2 PM
Guided walks originating from the Zeeuws Maritime muZEEum in Vlissingen. Duration: 90-minutes. Cost: €6.
"Zwarte bessendag"
A bicycle ride through the "Zak van Zuid Beveland", or the "Pocket of South Beveland". Start and finish at Boonman's Winery in Nieuwdorp between 9:30 AM and 1 PM. A scenic 35-kilometer ride through the berry fields and surrounding countryside.

Hike - "Hans Verkooijen Wandeling" at Neeltje Jans

Description: A walk around the tide line. At Deltapark Neeltje Jans, walk starts at the flags marked "Zeeuws Landschap en Natuurmonumenten", across the street from the parking lot (parking for a fee) at Neeltje Jans.
Sea Lessons in Kamperland (for children)
July 26 and August 1, 1:30 PM
A free nature excursion for children. Meeting Point: Banjaard Beach ("Banjaardstrand") just outside of the restaurant, or "strandpaviljoen".
Veerse Meer Flea Market
July 3-4 and 24-25, August 28-29 (from 9 AM ro 4 PM)
No entrance fee. Location: Nicolaaskerk (or Nicolaas church)
"Peelanderloop" at Veerse Meer

5, 10 and 15 km run at Campenseweg 2, Kamperland (Waterskibaan De Schotsman)

Zeeuwse Zonneboot Race 2009 - Veere

"Mars Rond Walcheren"
June 13, 8 AM
25-, 40- and 65-kilometer walks around the Walcheren area. All walks begin at 8 AM at the "Welzijnscentrum" on Adriaan Coortelaan 1 in Vlissingen. For details (in Dutch) click here:
"Mars Rond Veerse Meer"
June 27, 8 AM
60 km walk through the town of Veere and the surrounding area. Including 2 mandatory stops at participating restuarants.
Veere Tours
July 7 - August 25
"Op stap door Veere" met Anna. An 90-minute guided tour through gorgeous Veere. Adults €5, children €2.50.
