Though I haven't been blogging much, there have been many adventures to share here at our new home in Franconia, Germany. Having said that, my primary focus right now is on making this place a real "home", which - in addition to unpacking - has meant starting the boys in our local Kindergarten (we're in week 2) and our focusing on making friends both here in the neighborhood and in nearby villages.
The major hurdle is that Tobi is in Dubai and I am here, and we're not sure how long we'll have to go on like this. I've always been one of those moms that swore that she'd never put herself into a single parenting situation. I thought that I was too weak, and perhaps I was. But that was then and this is now. We have our routine and, while the kids certainly miss their Papa, they're really thriving here and seem to enjoy the renewed predictability of our days and nights.
One major highlight has been weekly hikes with the Kindergarten, which is so, so fun (surprisingly so!). I volunteered to tag along, and we've found nests (Lukas' discovery!), a baby bird (my find), snails (Lukas again), mushrooms, caves, beautiful blooming cherry trees, and so much more!
So if there's anything I can leave you with as we go into this weekend it's travel, yes. But be grounded. Have a home. Grow roots. Explore parts of yourself that you've been neglecting. That's a journey in and of itself. And a very important one, at that.
